Founded in 1957, the quarterly aviation magazine honors the Mirage III, one of Dassault Aviation’s most emblematic aircraft.
“Icare”, the benchmark magazine for French aviation, has chosen the Mirage III to kick off 2025 by featuring this legendary aircraft on its front page. The editorial team takes a look back at the first flight of the Mirage III prototype in 1956, and the aircraft’s added value: navigation at very low altitude with little visibility, but at high speed! To this end, the magazine team asked Colonel Antoine, who flew many hours on the Mirage III, to detail the history and use of the aircraft, recalling in great detail how this aircraft augured the future of the Mirage 2000 and Rafale.
Also featured in this issue is a forgotten part of l’Aéropostale’s history, with the latter’s passage through the Brazilian city of Fortaleza, with never-before-seen photos dating back to 1927. It’s the perfect way to bring this extraordinary epic and the names associated with it, such as Saint-Exupéry, back to life!
Also not to be missed, a focus on the Franco-German company EuroBerlin (but with British pilots!), which ceased operations just three decades ago, having been created in the aftermath of the Second World War. Europe was already on the move!
