An event highlighting the role and importance of the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Second World War. The exhibition runs until December 2025.

The Juno Beach Center (at the famous landing site in Courseulles-sur-Mer, in Calvados), which was founded in 2003 by veterans and volunteers, is both a memorial site and a cultural center. It pays homage to the 45,000 Canadians who lost their lives between 1939 and 1945, including 381 on June 6, 1944. To mark the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force (Aviation Royale du Canada – ARC), the Juno Beach Center is presenting an overview of the Canadian Air Forces during the 1939-1945 war.

From the first squadrons sent to England in 1940, through to the emergence of the conflict’s fourth largest air force, not forgetting the key role it played during the Battle of the Atlantic, the Royal Canadian Air Force underwent a vast transformation during the six years of hostilities. Visitors will be able to look into the cases of the 250,000 Canadians (and the aircraft in which they flew) who served in the ranks of the ARC, and the 18,000 of whom gave their lives. The “Rising to the Challenge” exhibition pays a heartfelt tribute to them.

Exhibition. “Rising to the Challenge”. Until December 31, 2025. Centre Juno Beach, voie des Français libres, 14 470 Courseulles-sur-Mer.
