Seven years after the last of the three volumes was published, “The Pilot in the Edelweiss” is being re-released as a complete collection bringing together “Valentine”, “Sidonie” and “Walburga”.
During the First World War of 1914-1918, twin brothers, Henri and Alphonse Castillac, are involved in combat. While Henri has earned his status as Ace, Alphonse, although a pilot and married to the beautiful Valentine, dreams of achieving the same status as his brother, but has been demoted to deployment in tanks on disciplinary grounds.
Up in the sky, daring and fun-loving Henri is afraid to confront Erik, a German pilot resembling the Red Baron, whose Fokker bears an edelweiss. When one day he comes face to face with the Prussian pilot who provokes him above the Cigognes airfield, Henri chooses to decline.
The French pilot, now flying a cannon-armed SPAD, heads to Paris for a few days on leave, where he meets with his twin Alphonse to suggest that he take his place… It’s the beginning of a chain of events, where love, brotherhood, honor and family secrets will be severely put to the test. All this accompanied by particularly impressive aerial scenes, by Romain Hugault and a thriller-like script conceived by Yann.
