A comic book that pays tribute to the first female fighter pilot in a combat squadron in the French Air Force, the late Caroline Aigle, who died from an illness at just 32.

This comic book tells the story of an exceptional woman who served France and was engaged in military studies very early on. A graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and an accomplished athlete, she was a French military champion in triathlon, and also enjoyed skydiving and parachuting, two of her great passions.

Caroline Aigle (nicknamed “Sparrow”) was the first female fighter pilot to be assigned to an Air Force fighter squadron. That was in 1999. A year later, she joined Air Base 115 in Orange, where she completed her training on the Dassault Mirage 2000, before becoming squadron commander five years later – the same year she was awarded the Médaille d’Or de la Défense Nationale (National Defense Medal, Gold). Throughout her career, she logged some 1,600 flight hours.

Sadly, Caroline Aigle’s brilliant career and life were cut short by illness. Discover her story in the pages of this tribute comic book.
