A direct sequel to “Vol du Rapier”, this new Buck Danny adventure in the “Classic” series pits our hero against counterespionage.
In “Vol du Rapier”, Buck Danny and his lifelong companions Tucson and Tumbler set off in an experimental aircraft traveling at three times the speed of sound, in search of four scientists (atomic experts) who had disappeared – but had been located through photos taken over an enemy base.
In the second part of this two-part adventure, Colonel Danny finds himself in the Barents Sea in 1958, more than seven years after the scientists were kidnapped. Accused by MI5 (Her Majesty’s Intelligence) of causing the deaths of two agents in Scotland, due to his affair with an enemy counter-espionage agent, Tucson is sidelined.
From an aircraft carrier stationed just a short distance from the enemy’s territorial waters, it’s up to Buck Danny and Tumbler to take to the skies together on board a Lockheed C-130 Hercules, whose resemblance to the Antonov 12 might prevent them from being spotted too early on as they head for the Ural Mountains. But they haven’t reckoned on all the adventures that lie ahead!
